Viagra is manufactured by Pfizer. Cialis is sold under the brand name Cialis. The medications are prescribed primarily for erectile dysfunction and can help men who have difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection. Cialis, which is marketed by Eli Lilly and Co., is not approved for ED treatment in the United States.
“We’ve been very concerned about the safety of this drug because it is a potentially serious drug and there’s no way we can tell you why that could be,” Wolfe said.
In April, the Food and Drug Administration approved Pfizer’s Viagra as the only FDA-approved treatment for ED in men. However, the approval of Viagra was delayed and the company was forced to revise the label.
Pfizer’s Viagra was approved in February, the same day that Cialis, which is also a branded version of the drug, became available.
Pfizer was the first drug manufacturer to approve erectile dysfunction drugs for sale in the United States.
Pfizer is now working with the federal government to provide safe and effective treatment for men who have been diagnosed with ED or who were not able to achieve or maintain an erection.
